Placed in the beautiful village of Cazalla de la Sierra, within the northern mountain range of the province of Seville, the Palacio de San Benito is the result of intense efforts to convert a historic building into a unique resort that integrates the best and most traditional elements of the picturesque rural region where it's nestled.
Formerly a hospital for pilgrims on their way to Santiago, the palace has experienced profound reconstructions, which had in mind not to modernize the building, but to reemphasize its original elements and compose them in a manner that allows guest to admire their magnificence.
A composition of historic elements of different times and cultures is present all throughout the palace. Among its highlights there's the Restaurant, featuring a magnificent collection of Spanish ceramics mixed with 19th century English dishes and splendid chimneys adorned with portraits. The Bar Cazalla is a small quaint bar with a Mudejar-style ceiling and a terrace next to the palace's fountain pool, from which guests can admire the unique landscape of Cazalla, with its small bullring and fertile orchards that are still today cultivated with plows pulled by mules.
Other interesting spots in the hotel include the Palace Chapel, with its Sevillian Rococo-style altar; the Library, with its 19th century Victorian atmosphere; the Gallery, presenting numerous paintings of Brussels and Abusson, and the Music Room, with a magnificent Erad piano, portraits, and valuable furniture.
There are 9 guest rooms at the Palacio de San Benito, each of them with its own decoration and feel, but all with original furnishings and art pieces from different epochs, which combine with fine fabrics to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The rooms are named according to their own special character: the majestic King's Room, the Queen's Room, the elegant and calming Blue Room, the original Bullfighter's Room, and the spacious Honeymoon Suite, with a gorgeous Edwardian ottoman and a magnificent pair of 19th century bathtubs.
The hotel outstands not only because of the splendor of its interiors, but also because of the way it interacts with its environment. Guests of the Palacio de San Benito have the opportunity to participate in the numerous interesting activities organized by the hotel in its surroundings. Among these, the hunting events are something the establishment is well-known for. You can take part in a whole range of big and small game hunting events in the heart of the Sevillian Sierra Morena, where you can find deer, wild boars, muflones, and more species. Other activities guests can choose from include horseback riding, fishing, hiking, horse-drawn carriage rides, and cultural events such as paint, history and flamenco dance courses, not to mention guided visits to the most interesting venues of the region, where guests can appreciate the greatness of the natural world and cultural heritage of Cazalla.
